Start from your income, not the price

Most calculators ask for a boat price first. This one works the other way around. You give it your annual income and your existing monthly debt, and it works out the payment you can support, then the boat price that payment buys at your chosen down payment. Capacity is based on a 43 percent debt-to-income limit. The result uses a 6.5 percent annual rate for illustration. Your actual rate is set by your lender, so treat the supported price as a planning figure rather than a final number.

Set a target payment or use your full capacity

Leave the target monthly payment blank and the calculator uses your full capacity at the 43 percent debt-to-income limit. Enter a target payment that is lower than your capacity, and the calculator sizes the boat price to that payment instead. The debt-to-income note tells you where the resulting payment sits, so you can decide whether to stretch toward your capacity or hold back below it.

See boats that actually fit

Once you enter your email, the calculator shows sample boats near your supported price and sends a results link that stays current with live inventory. You also see your cash back estimate, up to $5,000, paid when your loan closes and funds on loans of $50,000 or more.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much boat can I afford on my income?

Enter your annual income, your existing monthly debt, and a down payment percentage. The calculator applies a 43 percent debt-to-income limit to find the payment you can support, then returns the boat price that payment buys at a 6.5 percent illustration rate over the term you choose.

What debt-to-income ratio should I aim for?

A ratio at or below 36 percent, including the new boat payment, is comfortable. Up to 43 percent is workable but tighter. Higher than that is worth reconsidering.

How much down payment do I need?

A larger down payment percentage raises the boat price your supported payment can buy. There is no single required figure, so use the calculator to test 10, 20, and 30 percent.

Does a longer term let me afford more boat?

Yes. A longer term lowers the monthly payment, which raises the supported price, but it also raises the total interest you pay over the life of the loan.

What is the minimum loan amount?

The YachtWay EasyFund loan minimum is $50,000.
