An Italian aircraft lying almost complete on the seabed, its engines separated, with nobody quite sure why it came down. Nearby, Soğuk Mağara, the cold cave, where fresh groundwater pours out into the sea and the temperature drops several degrees as you enter. This is the Lycian coast, the drowned town of Kekova lies a few miles east, and the Uluburun wreck, a 14th-century BC Bronze Age cargo found off Kaş in 1982, rewrote what was known about Mediterranean trade. Its contents are in the Bodrum museum. Anchorage: Anchor in Bucak Deniz or off Kaş; this is the middle of the Lycian cruising coast, with Kekova a day's sail east. Hazards: Depth on the aircraft, and Soğuk Mağara has a cold freshwater inflow that blurs the water and drops the temperature sharply.
