Croatia's finest cave dive, twin chambers, the 'ears', with two entrances, one at 5m and one at 30m, meeting in a cathedral space where blue light pours through both. Lobster, conger and forkbeard in the walls, and 40m visibility outside. Premuda lies on the outer edge of the Zadar archipelago, exposed to the open Adriatic, which is why its water is the clearest in Croatia. The Austro-Hungarian battleship SMS Szent István was torpedoed and sank off Premuda in June 1918, she lies at 66m nearby and is a technical dive. Anchorage: Anchor off Premuda in settled weather; the island has fewer than 60 residents and minimal services. Hazards: A genuine overhead environment with two entrances at different depths. Guide and torch essential; exposed outer coast.
