A Royal Jordanian Air Force Lockheed C-130 Hercules sitting upright and completely intact on white sand at 16m, cockpit, cargo ramp and four engines in place, with the propellers still on. Because the sand is pale and the water is clear, you see the whole aircraft at once. Pairs with the Underwater Military Museum minutes away. Sunk deliberately in 2017 by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority as part of Jordan's strategy of building diver attractions on barren sand rather than live coral. Aqaba now has an aircraft, a tank museum and a freighter within a few miles, the densest cluster of deliberately sunk attractions anywhere. Anchorage: Aqaba Marine Park moorings; Aqaba marina minutes away. Hazards: Shallow enough for any diver, but do not penetrate the cargo hold without training.
