An uninhabited national park island with no buildings, no people and no lights, a perfect white crescent beach, a mangrove creek full of green turtles you can drift through by dinghy on the tide, nesting tropicbirds, and an offshore wall dropping into 1,000m of blue with 40m visibility. Protected by the Bahamas National Trust since 1964 and never developed. One of several islands claimed as Columbus's second landfall in 1492. The mangrove creek is a critical juvenile turtle nursery, which is why landing there is prohibited. Anchorage: Anchor off the west beach in white sand with superb holding, one of the great empty anchorages of the Bahamas. Hazards: No shelter from the west, no services, and 20nm from anywhere. Fully self-sufficient.
