Coral gardens in a few metres of water off two low cays, with the sand so white that the water reads as pale green from a mile off, and a beach bar on a sandbar that has been rebuilt after every hurricane. These cays are the top of the Anguilla bank, the same shallow platform that Anguilla, St Martin and St Barths all stand on, which is why the water between them is so shoal and so clear. Anchorage: Marine-park moorings over coral gardens with sand between them, taken for the day rather than the night. Sandy Island is a sandbar with a bar on it, half a mile long and a couple of feet high. Hazards: Day anchorages only, exposed once the trades freshen, and the cays are low with reef around them.
