A seamount summit at 35m in the middle of the Atlantic where hundreds of mobula rays gather in summer, circling in formation, joined by blue sharks, dusky groupers, barracuda walls and occasional whale sharks. One of the great open-ocean dives and almost nobody has done it. Named after the research yacht of Prince Albert I of Monaco, the oceanographer prince who charted these seamounts in the 1890s and effectively founded modern oceanography. The Azores banned commercial shark fishing on seamounts and now protect a large network of them. Anchorage: Open Atlantic seamount, 45nm offshore, day-boat only in settled weather, no shelter. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
