A cargo ship that ran aground on 26 July 1966 and never left, her rusting hull standing above the water a few metres off the beach with the sunset behind it, and the propeller and wreckage below in water shallow enough to snorkel. The ship, a Greek-owned freighter, went aground on the reef off Bagho village and was abandoned. The hull has been collapsing ever since and is now visibly less than it was, which is why Iranians photograph it on every visit. Kish itself was the pearl-trading island of the Gulf and is described as a paradise in medieval Persian and Arab accounts. Anchorage: Kish is a free-trade island with harbour facilities, midway along the Iranian side of the Gulf. Hazards: Sharp corroded steel, and Gulf summer water temperatures over 33 degrees.
