Rock slabs standing out of the water that local people call the Stone Ships, the narrow rock channel known as the Little Dardanelles at Varvara, and an underwater sculpture trail off Tsarevo, including a mermaid figure, set up as a marked route for snorkellers and divers. The Strandzha is the last big stretch of undeveloped coast on the Bulgarian Black Sea, protected as a nature park, and its rock formations are what erosion has left of an old volcanic shoreline. The sculpture trail is recent, built to give the coast something to dive to. Anchorage: Tsarevo is the harbour; the Strandzha coast south of it is wild, forested and almost empty, running to the Turkish border. Hazards: Exposed rock coast with swell, and no facilities south of Tsarevo.
