An 34m concrete tube half-sunk into the seabed, with an 11m by 4m acrylic window looking straight into the North Sea at 5m depth. You eat while wrasse, cod and pollack hang outside the glass and storms churn past. The concrete shell is deliberately roughened to grow kelp and act as an artificial reef. Opened 2019, designed by Snøhetta as Europe's first and the world's largest underwater restaurant. It doubles as a marine research station, biologists monitor the reef colonising its shell. Sited at the exact point where the North Sea and Baltic currents meet, which is why the fish life outside the window is so dense. Anchorage: Båly harbour at Lindesnes; the coast is exposed and unforgiving, check the forecast. Hazards: None for diners; the surrounding water is cold and exposed for swimmers.
