Two debris clusters in 7m, masts, rigging, iron hull plating and deck fittings from a 19th-century sailing ship, scattered by 130 years of hurricanes. It reads as a ship graveyard rather than a wreck, and almost nobody dives it. A three-masted iron-rigged barque, originally the F. W. Carver, wrecked on Coffins Patch in January 1889 carrying sawn timber from Georgia to Uruguay. The crew survived. The wide scatter is exactly what a century of Keys hurricanes does to a wooden-hulled ship. Anchorage: Mooring buoys offshore of Duck Key. Hazards: Surge over a shallow scattered site.
