Limestone towers rising sheer from jade water, with hidden lagoons reached through gaps you can only paddle through at the right tide. Small Lagoon's entrance is a swim-through cave. Snake Island's sandbar appears and disappears with the tide, and Matinloc's Secret Beach sits inside a collapsed karst wall. Bacuit Bay is a protected area within the Palawan UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve. Tourism grew so fast after 2010 that El Nido imposed lagoon entry caps, banned motors in the lagoons and closed sites for recovery, the Philippines' version of the Maya Bay lesson. Anchorage: Numerous sheltered anchorages among the limestone islands. Motorised entry banned inside the lagoons, kayak or swim. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
