Green turtles feeding in three metres of water, close enough to watch from the deck, plus reef on both headlands and a village whose church faces straight down the jetty at the sea. Martinique's anchoring rules changed as the damage to its seagrass became clear, ZMEL zones now replace free anchoring in the sensitive bays, and the turtles here are the visible argument for it. Anchorage: A postcard bay with a pontoon, a church tower on the beach and green turtles grazing the seagrass directly under the boat. Martinique now requires organised mooring buoys here rather than free anchoring, precisely because of that seagrass. Hazards: Anchoring on the seagrass is banned across the Anses-d'Arlet and around the Rocher du Diamant; use the ZMEL buoys or move on.
