The largest wreck in the Mediterranean to 334m of VLCC standing upright, the bridge structure at 34m and the hull plunging to 80m. The scale is genuinely hard to process, swimming along a deck that never ends. On 11 April 1991 the Cypriot supertanker Haven exploded off Genoa while pumping crude, killing six and burning for three days. She spilled 144,000 tonnes of oil, the worst tanker disaster in Mediterranean history, before sinking. She is now both a dive site and a monument to it. Anchorage: Genoa / Arenzano; offshore boat dive. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
