Sculptures honouring the Igneri, Caribe and Taíno peoples, canoes, faces, ceremonial figures, in 3-10m of clear Caribbean water, deliberately shallow so snorkellers get everything. Coral and sponge are colonising them fast, and it is almost always empty. Opened in the 2010s as the Dominican Republic's answer to Cancún's MUSA, but with an indigenous rather than contemporary-art theme, a memorial to the peoples who were wiped out within decades of Columbus's 1492 landfall on this island. Underrated and under-visited. Anchorage: Anchor inside the reef off Punta Cana; Cap Cana marina nearby. Hazards: None beyond normal snorkel care.
