The Don Félix, Mariana Rojamar, Chiarpesca and PolarBorg I lying in a gulf whose water is warmer than anywhere else on the Argentine coast, with sea lions and dolphins working the same ground and enormous tides moving the sand around them. The Golfo San Matías is nearly enclosed, which is why it heats up in summer and why Argentines drive a thousand kilometres to swim in it. The wrecks are mostly fishing vessels lost in the last fifty years, some deliberately placed. Anchorage: The Golfo San Matías is a huge sheltered gulf, and San Antonio Este is the working port. Hazards: One of the largest tidal ranges in South America, so everything is planned around the tide.
