Kneeling on white sand in 8m of turquoise water while 3-4m tiger sharks cruise past at arm's length, the clearest, brightest, most photographed shark diving on earth. Plus dozens of lemon sharks, Caribbean reef sharks, nurse sharks and the occasional great hammerhead. The Bahamas banned longlining in 1993 and declared its entire 630,000 km² EEZ a shark sanctuary in 2011, which is precisely why this exists. Tiger Beach is a female tiger shark aggregation, likely a gestation area, and is baited by operators, a practice that remains debated. Anchorage: Shallow open bank 20nm offshore, liveaboard/day-boat from West End; anchoring on sand in settled weather. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
