A 40km wall of white limestone with no roads behind it, broken by pebble coves the colour of a swimming pool. Cala Goloritzé has a 143m rock spire above it and is a UNESCO-listed natural monument; Cala Mariolu's white shingle makes the water glow. Snorkelling under the cliffs finds caves and grouper. This coast was inaccessible by land until the 1960s and much of it still is, the Selvaggio Blu trek was only pioneered in 1987. Goloritzé was created by a landslide in 1962. Sardinia has progressively tightened anchoring rules to protect posidonia meadows; assume moorings or a ban in the headline coves. Anchorage: Day anchorages only, the whole gulf is a lee shore in easterlies with zero shelter. Watch for the afternoon thermal breeze. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
