Mulder Favorite 1700 Video Review: A Gentleman's Yacht From 1938
By the YachtWay editorial deskUpdated October 2026Video walkthrough7 min read
The Mulder Favorite 1700 is a 17.8 m Dutch motor yacht with an aluminium round-bilge hull, from a family yard that has built gentlemen's boats since 1938. We walked the Anniversary Edition at a boat show in Germany. The details are everywhere: marble on the doors, leather inside the door knobs and suede on the ceiling. Below there is a breakfast nook, a galley, an owner's cabin forward and two guest cabins, and the engine room is one of the roomiest we have seen under 60 ft.
A superyacht finish on a 58-footer
Mulder mills its own cleats and fittings, and the caulking work looks almost too perfect to be done by hand. The boat feels like it was finished as a 58 m superyacht, not a 58 ft one. Owners can customise almost everything, down to the softness of each seat cushion. The classic three-pane windshield and chrome window trims nod to Dutch boatbuilding tradition.

The Favorite 1700 is a boat for people who love craftsmanship. The marble, the leather piping, the suede ceilings and the bronze fittings make every room feel special, and the folding light mast and full-width sunroof show the practical side of a Dutch yard. Below there is a breakfast nook, a galley and three cabins, and the engine room is one of the roomiest we have seen under 60 ft. We did not sea trial her, so we cannot speak to the ride.
