StanCraft Hammerhead 390HT Video Review: A Mahogany Speedboat

By the YachtWay editorial deskUpdated October 2026Video walkthrough6 min read

The StanCraft Hammerhead 390HT is a 39 ft speedboat with a full mahogany hull and a carbon fibre hardtop. HT stands for hardtop. We walked her in Miami in this re-edit of one of our favourite Spotlights. Twin Ilmor 520 engines sit under the aft sunbed, and the helm mixes a wooden wheel and analog gauges with a Garmin screen and a joystick. There is a love seat, a small galley, a head and a bow lounge with high backrests.

Classic style with modern hardware

StanCraft has built boats since 1933, and the company has stayed in the same family for three generations. The 390HT keeps the classic look: a mahogany hull, wooden trim and lines from another era. Underneath it is a modern boat, with twin Ilmor 520s, a carbon fibre hardtop, wireless chargers and a joystick. Even the drawers are lined with felt so nothing rattles at speed.

  • Lighting.
LEDs glow over the mahogany floor.

The verdict

The Hammerhead 390HT is a boat for people who love classic style. The mahogany hull, the wooden wheel and the analog gauges feel like another era, while the twin Ilmor engines, the carbon hardtop and the joystick bring her up to date. The details are what stay with you: felt in the drawers, a mahogany door on the electrical panel and fine finishes even in the head. If you want to cruise like Gatsby, this is the boat to look at.
