A half-mile line of enormous rectangular limestone blocks laid in a J-shaped causeway on the seabed in 5m of water, with regular joints and rounded corners. Whether it is a natural beach-rock formation that fractured into blocks or a built road is still argued. Easy snorkel, huge visual payoff, and a great story to sell. Found in 1968, the same year a psychic reading attributed to Edgar Cayce had predicted Atlantis would be rediscovered 'near Bimini', which is why the site became a global sensation. Geologists identify it as Pleistocene beachrock; a minority of researchers still argue for human working of the stones. Either way it is one of the most famous snorkels in the Atlantic. Anchorage: Anchor off North Bimini in 5-8m sand; Bimini Big Game Club and Resorts World for dockage. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
