A submerged ridge completely upholstered in soft coral, violet, pink, orange and white with no bare rock left, rising to within 8m of the surface, with glassfish and lionfish through it and rays on the sand at the base. It is the most colourful piece of reef in Thai waters. Jabang sits in Tarutao National Marine Park, which was a Thai penal colony until 1948 and is now the reason this corner of the Andaman still has intact reef. Koh Lipe, a Chao Leh sea-gypsy island, is the jumping-off point and sits three nautical miles from Malaysian Langkawi. Anchorage: Anchor off Koh Lipe or in the Adang-Rawi channel, one of the prettiest anchorages on the Thai-Malaysian border. Hazards: Current over the pinnacle and heavy longtail traffic on the surface.
