You are paddled 4.3km into a mountain along a river that flows directly into the sea, through cathedral-scale chambers with 60m ceilings, vast stalactite formations, and a roof full of swiftlets and bats. It is one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature and it is entered from a boat off a beach. A UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999 and named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2012. The full cave system runs over 24km and includes a deep 'Italian's Chamber', one of the largest cave rooms in the world. Fossils of a 20-million-year-old sirenian were found inside. Anchorage: Anchor off Sabang beach in 8-15m, exposed to the north-west monsoon. Permits and timed entry slots required, book well ahead. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
