A navigational mark long before it was a dive site, and guano-white for the same reason the sea lions like it. Its shape made it a landmark for the steamers running to the isthmus in the early twentieth century. Anchorage: Nowhere to lie overnight. Dive it from a boat holding station or on a short anchor in the lee and sleep in Isthmus Cove a mile away. Hazards: Current runs hard around the rock and the walls drop past recreational depth.
