Dozens of Northern Bahamian rock iguanas, a species that exists on a handful of cays and nowhere else on earth, walking down the beach to meet your tender. Up to a metre long, prehistoric-looking, entirely unbothered. Combined with a first-class anchorage, it is the classic Exuma opener. Cyclura cychlura inornata is endangered, with a wild population in the low thousands confined to these few cays. Feeding by visitors has caused documented health problems and diet-related disease, and the Bahamas National Trust discourages it, bring nothing, and the encounter is just as good. Anchorage: A well-used anchorage between the cays with good holding, the standard first or last stop of an Exuma cruise. Strong tidal current between the islands. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
