Voted the best shore dive in the world more than once, and it is under a road bridge in 4m of water. Frogfish, batfish, seahorses, flying gurnards, octopus, striated frogfish, juvenile everything, and regular sightings of species not recorded anywhere else in the Atlantic. A snorkel trail with sculptures too. A quirk of geography, the Lake Worth Inlet flushes clean ocean water over a shallow sand and rubble flat, and the bridge pilings give shelter, so larval tropicals from the Gulf Stream settle here in extraordinary variety. Macro photographers travel internationally for a dive site with a car park. Anchorage: Inside the Lake Worth Inlet; anchor or berth in Riviera Beach. Dive only on the hour either side of high slack, the current is unmanageable otherwise. Hazards: Year-round, but ONLY at high slack water, check the tide table, this is non-negotiable.
