A 287ft freighter lying on her starboard side in two sections, the hull split cleanly by a hurricane, which turned one wreck into two dives. Goliath grouper under the plates, jack schools, barracuda and a resident green moray. Built in Holland in 1962, she caught fire in 1985 and was bought for scuttling by Keys dive operators, going down in December that year. Hurricane Georges broke her in half in 1998. Originally named the Raila Dan and renamed for the newspaper that helped fund her sinking. Anchorage: Mooring buoys offshore; Islamorada marinas as base. Hazards: Current and depth; the wreck is in two pieces with sharp broken edges.
