A granite arch where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific, with a sea lion colony barking on the rocks beneath it and Lover's Beach on one side, Divorce Beach on the other. The Cabo submarine canyon, with its rare 'sandfalls' of sand cascading down the wall, filmed by Cousteau, begins directly below. Land's End marks the geological tip of the Baja peninsula, which tore away from mainland Mexico 5 million years ago and is still moving. Cousteau filmed the sandfalls at 30m in 1960, a phenomenon documented in very few places. Grey and humpback whales pass close in winter. Anchorage: Day anchoring off Lover's Beach; Cabo San Lucas marina. Exposed Pacific side is not tenable. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
