The most famous raft-up in America, shallow turquoise water inside the inlet where hundreds of boats tie together on weekends, with floating vendors selling food and drinks between them. Purely social rather than scenic, but it is a genuine cultural landmark of boating and guests ask for it by name. Haulover Inlet was cut in 1925 and takes its name from the practice of hauling small boats over the sand isthmus before then. The inlet's confused sea state has made it a viral YouTube genre in its own right, 'Boat Zone', which is its own kind of fame. Anchorage: Anchor on the bar in 1-2m sand just inside the inlet. Strong tidal current through Haulover, set enough scope and expect wake. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
