A 49m former US Navy landing craft sitting upright with her forward gun still mounted, the best wreck in the Gulf of Thailand and shallow enough for newly qualified divers. Batfish, groupers and huge schools of yellowtail barracuda. Built as USS LCI-739, she served in the Pacific in WWII, was transferred to the Royal Thai Navy, and was scuttled off Koh Tao in June 2011 as an artificial reef for the island's enormous dive-training industry, Koh Tao certifies more divers per year than almost anywhere on earth. Anchorage: Anchor off Koh Tao's west coast; Sairee and Chalok bays. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
