A tiny settlement with a big regatta, a tidal cut you can drift-snorkel on the incoming water, and the transition from the shallow bank to the 2,000-metre depths of Exuma Sound in the space of half a mile. The cay is largely owned by descendants of one freed family, and the annual regatta is the social calendar. The Exuma cuts have been the pilotage of these islands for three centuries. Anchorage: Anchor inside off the settlement, or in the pocket north of the cut. One of the classic Exuma tidal gates between the bank and Exuma Sound, and a village of eighty people with two bars. Hazards: Farmer's Cut runs at several knots and should be taken at slack or with the tide, never against wind over tide.
