A shoal rising to 12m midway between two islands, with nurse sharks under the ledges, lobster, big groupers and healthy coral. Nearby, the wreck of the River Taw and White House Bay's ballast-stone shallows. Almost nobody dives St Kitts and Nevis. The channel between the islands, The Narrows, was where the British fleet anchored during the 1782 Battle of Frigate Bay. Nevis was once the richest sugar island in the Caribbean and the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton; the ballast stones on the seabed came from ships that arrived empty to load sugar. Anchorage: Anchor off Charlestown or in White House Bay, St Kitts, which also has a wreck and a beach bar. Hazards: Open channel between two islands, so wind and current build quickly.
