300+ figures across twelve installations on black volcanic sand, 'The Raft of the Lampedusa' (a refugee dinghy), 'Crossing the Rubicon', a 30m wall with a single door, and 'The Human Gyre', a vortex of 200 bodies. Angel sharks, rays and barracuda have moved in. Opened 2016 as Europe's and the Atlantic's first underwater museum, built by Jason deCaires Taylor over two years using 15 tonnes of pH-neutral marine cement. The refugee raft was cast the year of the Mediterranean migrant crisis; the wall-with-a-door is a statement about borders in a borderless ocean. Anchorage: Anchor off Playa Blanca / Marina Rubicón berth; site is a short boat ride. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
