A pod of 60-100 spinner dolphins that uses the lagoon as a daytime resting site, plus a horseshoe reef whose inner lagoon is flat, shallow and glass-clear. Snorkel-only zones protect the dolphins' rest; the outer walls are full coral reef. Egypt zoned Samadai and Sataya after uncontrolled dolphin tourism in the early 2000s disturbed the pods, the lagoon is now split into a no-entry core, a snorkel zone and a diving zone. It works, and it's a model other countries have copied. Anchorage: A large horseshoe reef enclosing a protected sandy lagoon, one of the Red Sea's finest natural anchorages. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
