House-sized granite boulders forming caves and pools you swim through, the same geology as The Baths, and, if you are there at dawn, nobody else in them. Virgin Gorda's boulders are eroded granite, unique in the eastern Caribbean, which is otherwise volcanic and limestone. They made the island a landmark for centuries of navigators. Anchorage: Just north of The Baths with the same granite boulders and a fraction of the traffic. A few moorings and sand pockets between the rock; take it for the day and move round to Spanish Town or the Sound for the night. Hazards: Day use only, the moorings are not for overnight, and winter ground swell breaks straight in. Holding is patchy between the rocks.
