A house reef so good it is the reason people come, a wall dropping from 5m to beyond 60m directly off the beach, with 40m visibility, 750+ coral species (more than the entire Caribbean), pygmy seahorses, mandarinfish and a night dive with mating flashlight fish. Indonesia's third-largest marine national park, declared in 1996 across 1.4 million hectares. The Bajau 'sea nomads' live in stilt villages here and historically spent their lives almost entirely on the water, some have measurably enlarged spleens, an adaptation to lifelong breath-hold diving found nowhere else in humans. Anchorage: Sheltered anchorages among the atolls; remote, full self-sufficiency required. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
