The archetype of Caribbean boat culture, you anchor off, swim ashore, and the Soggy Dollar Bar serves you a Painkiller, invented here, with the wet banknotes that gave the bar its name. White sand, blue water, no dock, and one of the best sunset bar scenes on earth. Jost Van Dyke has around 300 residents and is the birthplace of Dr John Lettsome, founder of the London Medical Society. Foxy Callwood's bar has been running since 1968 and its Old Year's Night party draws hundreds of yachts. Rebuilt after Hurricane Irma flattened it in 2017. Anchorage: Great Harbour and Little Harbour are good; White Bay is a day stop with a tricky reef entry and northerly swell exposure. Hazards: No site-specific hazards noted, brief normally.
