Vessel Description
2014 Spirit Yachts R74 on Display in Athens, GR
Currently lying in Greece, Spirit R74 Spirit of Galatea by Spirit Yachts was designed for cruising and occasional regatta racing in the Mediterranean. Launched in 2014, ‘Galatea’ as she is affectionately known was the first Spirit Yacht to launch with the yard’s now iconic fan light windows in the sleek, low profile coach roof.
The original brief from the owner was focused on beautiful aesthetic and sailing performance. Galatea’s low freeboard and long overhangs give way to her flush decks and sweeping cockpit, turning heads wherever she goes.
Down below, Galatea, Spirit R74 by Spirit Yachts has accommodation for eight guests across four cabins. Her layout includes a crew cabin in the bow with access from on deck.
Descending the companionway steps, you enter a spacious saloon filled with light from the sweeping overhead fan lights in the coach roof. Within her beautifully hand-crafted wooden interior is a large U-shaped sofa to port with a dining table for six guests. To starboard, there are two armchairs and coffee table, creating a warm and social environment for relaxing with friends and family. The navigation area and chart table aft of the armchairs leads through to the aft cabin, comprising two large single berths and en-suite heads. All heads have electric freshwater flushing toilets with holding tanks.
Forward of the saloon to port is the well-equipped, open plan galley with the central unit housing the main engine facilitating easy access. To starboard, there is a twin bunk cabin with en-suite heads.
Forward of the mast is the owner’s stateroom with large double berth on the centerline, flanked by seating. En-suite heads to port at the aft end.
Forward of the owner’s stateroom bulkhead is a crew cabin accessed from on deck, with two bunks and en-suite heads.
Galatea, Spirit R74, has air-conditioning throughout the interior.
On deck, Galatea, Spirit R74, has a Southern Spars carbon rig and a carbon Park Avenue boom with nitronic rod rigging and Lewmar electric winches. She also comes with a slab-reef mainsail, jib, spinnaker, and asymmetric, all newly purchased in 2024.
The yacht has a suite of B&G navigational equipment and a 3.2m inflatable tender with 9hp outboard.
There is a compressed air system in the lazarette for inflating dinghy and fenders.
