Amels Launches Project Tanzanite: A 120-Meter Milestone for Dutch Yachting

Amels, under the Damen Yachting umbrella, has made history with the launch of its most ambitious creation yet — the full-custom superyacht Project Tanzanite. At an impressive 120 meters in length and a sprawling 6,083 gross tons, she is now the largest yacht to be built in the Netherlands to date.
A Journey Decades in the Making
Originally constructed at Damen’s hull facility in Galati, Romania, Tanzanite made her way into Dutch waters in June 2023, arriving at the Vlissingen shipyard for outfitting. Following her launch within a covered dock, she has now entered the crucial final outfitting phase. Over the next year, more than 1,000 skilled professionals from Damen Yachting and their global supply chain will bring her to completion, with delivery slated for 2026.

Design That Commands Presence
- Exterior: Crafted by acclaimed designer Espen Øino, Tanzanite features a clipper bow, streamlined five-deck superstructure, and sweeping teak decks against a pristine white hull with a bold black boot stripe. Expansive windows blur the line between land and ocean, while a prominent diagonal ventilation line adds both function and visual interest.
- Outdoor Amenities: The yacht includes two helipads and dual swimming pools — a grand main deck pool for socializing and a more secluded retreat on the bridge deck.
Interiors: A Hidden Realm of Luxury
While details remain confidential, early renderings suggest a breathtaking internal palette by Zuretti Design that leans into warm honey tones, lush marble, and architectural flourishes. A signature feature is the sweeping spiral staircase embracing a glass elevator, flowing through the yacht’s vertical axis. Light pours into the interiors from a glass-bottomed pool above the beach club, illuminating lounges designed for effortless elegance.
Capability Meets Grace
Tanzanite is built for both grace and endurance. Powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system with Kongsberg Elegance® pods, she sprints up to 18 knots at top speed while prioritizing whisper-quiet operation and precise handling — hallmarks of modern, efficient yachting.

Scale and Purpose
- Accommodations: Designed to host 22 guests across 11 luxurious suites, supported by a crew of 44.
- Specifications:
- Length: 120 m / 394 ft
