Azimut|Benetti Group and international marina operator D-Marin have released new details and visuals for their joint marina development in Livorno, Italy, offering a closer look at the €20 million project now under construction. Groundworks began in September 2025 and, according to the partners, progress is advancing at pace, with full completion targeted for autumn 2027.

The Marina Livorno project was first announced in March 2024, following confirmation the previous year of a strategic partnership between the Italian shipbuilding group and the private marina operator.

Once complete, Marina Livorno will provide 815 berths for yachts ranging up to 80 metres in length. The development will be delivered in phases, with the first 336 berths expected to come online as early as 2026.

Positioned at the entrance to Tuscany and within easy reach of the Tuscan Archipelago and the Corsican coast, the marina is designed to serve as a new Mediterranean gateway for yacht owners navigating the central western basin.

Design-led, low-impact approach

The architectural vision for Marina Livorno has been developed by Florence-based studio Archea Associati, with a focus on sustainability, innovation and seamless integration with the surrounding urban and coastal environment.

The marina adopts a circular, low-impact design philosophy, incorporating solar canopies, rainwater recovery systems, green walls and extensive landscaping elements such as trees and hedges. These features are intended to soften the marina’s footprint while reinforcing D-Marin’s broader commitment to responsible marina management and environmental stewardship.

Reconnecting the city with the sea

Beyond its role as a yachting hub, the project aims to re-establish Livorno’s historic connection to the water. Plans include transforming the Bacino Piccolo into a public water square and reopening the historic Molo Mediceo to residents and visitors alike.

Public docks, leisure zones, landscaped green spaces, dedicated parking and an extended waterfront promenade will form part of the wider redevelopment, creating a more accessible and vibrant coastal area for the city.

Infrastructure upgrades, including improved access roads and traffic flow management, are expected to allow the marina’s swing bridge to remain open more frequently, easing movement for both residents and visiting yachts.

A marina for boaters and the community

“Marina Livorno reflects our belief that premium yachting and environmental responsibility can and must advance together,” said Andrea De Santis, chief operating officer of D-Marin. “This project has been designed not only for boaters, but for the entire Livorno community, bringing together innovation, sustainability and the spirit of the city.”

Berth holders and visitors will benefit from round-the-clock security, concierge services, dining and retail offerings, and access to D-Marin’s full digital services platform. Marina Livorno will also join the operator’s Happy Berth Days loyalty programme, which provides complimentary seven-day stays across participating marinas within its global network.

The Livorno development represents a further milestone in D-Marin’s expansion in Italy, where the operator already manages Punta Faro, Marina di Varazze, Porto Mirabello, Marina degli Aregai and Marina di San Lorenzo. We're excited to see them make an even larger footprint on the list of top superyacht marinas in the world. ⛵︎
