Exploring the Future: Habacoa, The Bahamas' Upcoming Superyacht Haven
Habacoa: The Bahamas' upcoming eco-friendly, luxury superyacht haven with cutting-edge facilities and community amenities.
YachtWay would like to introduce you to an exciting new venture on the horizon: the Habacoa project in the Abacos archipelago. This development is poised to transform the cruising landscape.
Scheduled for completion in early 2027, Habacoa is set to become a sanctuary for superyachts, accommodating vessels up to a staggering 700 feet in its expansive 150-slip marina. This ambitious development will also boast a 200-vessel dry-stack facility, complete with an impressive 880-foot turning circle in the basin—a design crafted with precision to ease navigation for even the grandest yachts.
One of the project's architectural triumphs lies in its collaboration with Zaha Hadid Architects, celebrated for iconic structures like Infinitus Plaza in Guangzhou and The Opus in Dubai. Their vision for Habacoa includes a 25,000-square-foot members-only yacht club, a vibrant nightclub, and a chic casino, each structure embodying sustainable technologies and eco-friendly materials. The architecture integrates seamlessly with the island's natural beauty, preserving the shoreline and marine life by keeping most excavation on land.
The sustainability ethos extends to the use of renewable energy, aiming for solar power to constitute a third of the development's energy consumption, alongside rainwater harvesting and wastewater recycling systems.
Complementing its luxurious marina facilities, Habacoa plans an enriching community experience with amenities such as a spa, wellness and fitness centers, shopping, dining, and live entertainment. Notably, the site will feature an "upscale dedicated crew club," a thoughtful addition for visiting yacht crews.
Sprawled over 500 acres and nestled amidst 20,000 acres of Abaco National Park, Habacoa will ensure yachts have on-site customs and immigration services, with in-slip fueling, pump-out, and utilities easily accessible. The canal's 26-foot depth will facilitate smooth, high- and low-tide entries.
The development promises a significant boost to local employment, contributing more than 1,000 jobs to the Good people of the Abacos. An estimated 600 of these positions will remain permanent, heralding long-term economic benefits.
As the sun sets over the Bahamian horizon, Habacoa emerges as more than just a yachting destination: it stands as a beacon of innovation, luxury, and sustainability in maritime development.
