Fraser Yachts Embraces Sustainability with the YETI Partnership

Fraser Yachts has embarked on a pivotal journey towards sustainability, aligning with the Water Revolution Foundation to adopt the groundbreaking Yacht Environmental Transparency Index (YETI). This sophisticated tool advances Fraser's mission to mitigate the superyacht industry's environmental footprint by providing transparency and data-driven insights into environmental performance.

By integrating the YETI system, Fraser has positioned itself as a pioneer in promoting sustainability within the luxury yacht sector. This tool will meticulously document and evaluate environmental metrics of an initial set of 20 yachts within Fraser's management fleet. Factors such as propulsion systems, energy efficiency in hotel functions, and galley operations will be assessed, creating a detailed environmental profile for each vessel.

The commitment to YETI is seen as a significant leap forward. Robert van Tol, the executive director of the Water Revolution Foundation, emphasized that Fraser is setting a new standard in environmental accountability by transparently evaluating existing fleets and driving industry-wide improvements.

The YETI insights enable Fraser's team to offer their clients actionable advice on implementing eco-friendly solutions, particularly during yacht refit periods. The recommendations focus on enhancing efficiency in hotel functions, which typically consume over 50% of a yacht's energy. This involves adopting energy-saving and recovery technologies and utilizing advanced filtration and after-treatment systems.

Fraser's CEO, Anders Kurtén, highlights that the company is at the forefront of yachting's fundamental transformation. By leveraging the partnership with YETI, Fraser aims to deliver actionable solutions that empower clients to reduce their environmental impact without compromising on luxury or performance.

The strategic use of YETI not only helps Fraser market its yachts as more sustainable but also aligns with the increasing demand from environmentally-conscious charterers and buyers. Eco-friendly yachts are becoming more desirable and often command higher resale values. Fraser also anticipates that these insights may lead to improved financial conditions for yacht owners, including favorable insurance policies and potentially lower marina fees.

Looking ahead, Fraser plans to provide regular updates on fleet sustainability and introduce additional services focused on environmental upgrading. This initiative aims to spark broader action within the yachting community, encouraging peers across brokerage, yacht management, and charter operations to incorporate sustainable practices as a key element of yacht ownership and management.
