Sunseeker appoints interim CEO
Sunseeker has moved to stabilize its ownership structure, with existing backers Cheyne Capital and Cross Ocean Partners confirming plans to retain control of the business, pending regulatory approval. The update follows the collapse of a proposed acquisition by a KCP-led consortium, which failed to complete its funding and transaction obligations within the required timeline.
As part of the transition, Steve Timms has been appointed interim CEO, bringing more than 25 years of experience within Sunseeker, most recently as chief operating officer. Antony Sheriff will step back from the CEO role but remain involved as a special advisor while the company conducts a search for a permanent successor.
The move comes as Sunseeker continues a broader strategic repositioning, with increased focus on the superyacht segment and long-term growth. Backed by continued investment from its current ownership group, the company is expected to double down on product development, operational efficiency and workforce expansion. Based in Poole, Sunseeker remains one of the UK’s most significant yacht builders, producing motor yachts up to 40 metres.
