Vanquish VQ70 Video Review: Two Tender Garages and MJP Jets

By the YachtWay editorial deskUpdated October 2026Video walkthrough8 min read

The Vanquish VQ70 is a 70 ft aluminium dayboat built in the Netherlands. This is our second VQ70 video. The owner of this boat ordered it after watching our first one. We walked her in Miami, from the clamshell tender garage at the stern to the engine room. MJP waterjets let her anchor in 2.5 ft of water, and the second tender garage hides a colour-matched VQ11 tender.

A 70 ft dayboat built like a superyacht

We came back to the VQ70 to show what we missed the first time, including the engine room and the technical room. The stern steps open like a clamshell over the first tender garage, and a side door opens a second one. The anchor drops from under the hull, the cleats sit flush and even the hinges are made in house. This owner also had the whole boat wrapped in PPF.

What stood out on board

  • Two tender garages
The stern steps open like a clamshell for a jet tender, and a side door opens a second garage for a VQ11.
  • Waterjets for shallow water
We were anchored in 2.5 ft of water on a 70 ft boat. MJP jets make that possible.
  • An anchor you never see
It drops from under the bow, with a marked chain and a sealed locker you could almost use for storage.
  • A fighter jet helm
Three 16 in Garmin screens, carbon race seats with autopilot control and switches under glass.
  • Library quiet below
We measured 50 to 51 decibels in the media room with the engines and generator running.
  • A media room that sleeps a guest
It works as an office or cinema, and turns into a second cabin with its own en suite.

Stern and first tender garage

The stern steps, which open like a clamshell over the first garage. 02:05

The wide stern steps look like a superyacht's, and the whole set opens like a clamshell to reveal the first tender garage, sized for a jet tender. A staircase folds out into the water and works as a passerelle too.

  • Shower.
A rain shower at the stern, plus water connections on both sides.
  • Lighting.
    LEDs under every step.
  • Shore power.
Power cord connections at the stern.
  • Speakers.
Built into the gunwales, out of sight.

Aft deck

The aft deck lounge, under the hardtop. 04:00

A large sunbed with a jet-like wing behind it fits four or five people, and U-shaped seating sits in front of it. An electric Bimini slides out from the hardtop for shade.

  • Misters.
Built into the hardtop to cool you down.
  • Cup holders.
Carbon fibre, six on each side and five in the middle.
  • Fender lockers.
Four large fenders and lines on each side.
  • Cleats.
Superyacht size, set flush into the deck.

Bow and anchor

The anchor locker, with the chain led under the bow. 08:00

The bow has a sunbed with carbon poles for shade and a seating area with tall, angled backrests. The anchor drops from under the hull, so nothing hangs off the bow.

  • Windlass.
Maxwell, with a fresh water rinse.
  • Chain.
Marked in colour so you know how much is out.
  • Audio.
A James Audio system with subwoofers under the seats.
  • Night vision.
A FLIR camera on the hardtop.
  • Boarding gate.
On the port side, on hinges made in house.

Cockpit and outdoor galley

The outdoor galley, with a tall fridge. 13:20

Under the hardtop there is a second table with an ice box in the middle and a SunBrite TV that rises to turn it into a cinema. The outdoor galley runs along the starboard side.

  • Ice.
A Hoshizaki ice maker that makes clear ice.
  • Grill.
A Kenyon grill under a heavy lid.
  • Fridge.
Tall enough for champagne bottles standing up.
  • Second garage.
A side door opens and the VQ11 tender slides out.
  • Freezer drawer.
Next to the helm, with adjustable temperature.

Helm

The carbon helm seats, with autopilot controls in the armrest. 16:00

The helm is laid out like a fighter jet, with three 16 in Garmin screens and engine switches under a glass latch. The seats have carbon backs and race car shapes.

  • Autopilot.
Controlled from the armrest with Garmin grid control.
  • Joystick.
Makes docking the jets as easy as a jet ski.
  • Cooling.
AC vents built into the helm.
  • Step.
A fold-down step for a better view out.

Below deck

Below deck, with a long counter and split lighting. 20:40

A large aluminium door leads down. Below there is a galley counter, a seating area with a fold-out table, a Liebherr fridge and a wine cooler that opens with a tap.

VIP cabin

  • Bed.
A queen bed forward, with storage on both sides.
  • Details.
A pull-out makeup table and a Samsung Frame TV that slides out.
  • En suite.
A shower with a bench and a pocket door.

Media room

  • Uses.
An office, a cinema or a second cabin.
  • Quiet.
50 to 51 decibels under way, closest to the engines.
  • En suite.
A dry shower with a bench.

Engine room and crew

  • Engines.
Twin MAN V12 2,000 hp with MJP jets.
  • Systems.
Seakeeper, watermaker and a cooled electronics room.
  • Crew cabin.
    Bunk beds, a washer-dryer, a microwave and a shower.
The verdict

The VQ70 is a dayboat with superyacht engineering. Two tender garages, an anchor you never see, flush cleats and hinges made in house keep the deck clean, and the waterjets take her into water most 70 footers cannot reach. The helm feels like a cockpit, and below deck there is a VIP cabin, a media room that becomes a second cabin and a proper crew cabin. It was quiet enough below for a video call while under way.
