Ancasta Group founder exits majority stake as leadership transitions
Ancasta Group is entering a new chapter, with founder Nick Griffith selling his majority stake to franchise owner Matthew Shave. As part of the transition, Shave steps into the CEO role, while Griffith moves into a chairman position, remaining involved at a strategic level as the business evolves.
Headquartered in Southampton, Ancasta has built one of Europe’s most established brokerage and distribution networks, spanning 22 locations and a fully integrated service offering: from yacht sales and new build distribution to refit, rigging and after-sales support. Its portfolio includes operations such as Ancasta International Boat Sales, Sanlorenzo Yachts UK and a range of technical service divisions that underpin its full-lifecycle approach.
According to Ancasta, Nick said: “I am incredibly proud of what Ancasta has achieved over the past 25 years. Matthew is the right person to lead the business forward, and I look forward to supporting him in my new role as Chairman.”
Matthew added: “Ancasta is a highly respected brand with a strong reputation across the marine industry. I am excited to take on this role and to work with the team to continue scaling the business, strengthening our partnerships with leading shipyards, and delivering high-quality, full-service solutions to our clients.”
The shift signals a continuation rather than a reset. With Shave now leading day-to-day operations, the focus turns to scaling the brand’s footprint, deepening shipyard partnerships and expanding its franchise network across key European markets. For Griffith, the move reflects a planned evolution: stepping back from control while ensuring continuity at the top.
