Baglietto Confirms Sale of 48m Custom Yacht with Revolutionary Systems
Italian shipyard Baglietto has announced the sale of a fully custom 48-metre superyacht, developed in collaboration with Floating Life and Volvo Penta. Unveiled during the 2025 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the project, known as Hull 10277, embodies the yard’s deep technical expertise and creative adaptability.
Commissioned by an experienced owner seeking an “extremely seaworthy vessel capable of global cruising,” the yacht will be constructed to Ice Class 1D standards, enabling long-range navigation across challenging environments and high latitudes.
A Design of Seamless Connection and Enduring Elegance
Exterior and interior design are being developed jointly by Floating Life and SaturaStudio, the Italian design firm known for its Japanese-inspired 82-metre concept revealed in 2024. The yacht’s aesthetic blends warm natural materials with a focus on fluid transitions between interior and exterior spaces, most notably through a panoramic main saloon wrapped in 360-degree glazing that draws light deep into the heart of the vessel.
The hull itself has been engineered for efficiency — reducing drag, extending range to over 5,000 nautical miles, and improving fuel consumption by as much as 30 percent, reaffirming Baglietto’s commitment to performance without compromise.
A Tribute to Tradition: The “Historical” Tender Launch System
Among the project’s most distinctive features is a 10-metre tender launching system inspired by the hauling mechanisms used by Italian shipyards between the 1940s and 1960s.
Developed with Besenzoni, the innovative system integrates a retractable platform that allows the tender to be launched and retrieved directly from the sea, combining old-world ingenuity with modern precision. Described by the shipyard as a “solution unmatched on the market,” it pays homage to Italy’s naval heritage while offering a uniquely elegant, mechanical choreography at sea.
A Propulsion Partnership for the Future
Power and propulsion will come from the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform, a next-generation system that allows for dual power input — combining different energy sources for maximum flexibility and operational redundancy.
Its Eco Mode intelligently adapts engine performance to real-time navigation conditions, while its compact configuration liberates valuable space traditionally reserved for the engine room. As a result, the yacht offers greater interior volume and enhanced comfort for owners, guests, and crew.
Baglietto’s engineers have positioned the engine room on an “under-lower deck,” creating an uninterrupted lower deck layout from stern to bow. Transparent staircases interlink the decks above, adding both visual flow and architectural lightness.
A Statement of Craftsmanship and Collaboration
Speaking at the show, Fabio Ermetto, Chief Commercial Officer of Baglietto, expressed pride in the partnership:
“We are delighted to renew our collaboration with Floating Life. This project once again demonstrates Baglietto’s extraordinary flexibility and leadership in building high-tech, tailor-made yachts — reinforced by our partnership with Volvo Penta and their cutting-edge propulsion solutions.”
The Baglietto Vision Ahead
Baglietto currently has 11 superyacht projects for sale either on order or under construction, including two of its flagship T60 models.
With Hull 10277, the Italian builder continues to expand its legacy, merging historical inspiration, engineering innovation, and bespoke artistry into a vessel designed to navigate not only the oceans, but the evolving future of yacht design itself.
