Greenline 42: 20 Miles on Electric, 25 Knots on Diesel
The new Greenline 42 is a hybrid cruiser from Slovenia with ten solar panels on its roof and a saloon that opens straight into the cockpit. It makes its US debut at Bahia Mar on Thursday 29 October at 2 pm.

Greenline Yachts builds in Begunje, Slovenia. The 42 sits between the Greenline 40 and the 45 in the range. Marco Casali of Too Design drew the exterior and the interior, and the naval architects at Micad drew the hull.
Greenline told YachtWay the 42 runs up to 20 nautical miles at 5 knots on electric power alone, in good conditions. With the diesels running, the top speed is 25 knots on two 250 hp Yanmar engines.
"When we do finally introduce a new boat, it is therefore no light decision. You can be sure that the new Greenline 42 has absorbed every inch of our know-how and will provide a reference in the market for decades to come."

Electric motors between engine and prop
The hybrid version uses Greenline's H-Drive 6G. A 23 kW electric motor sits between each diesel and its propeller. On electric power the boat makes up to 6.5 knots in silence. When the diesels run, the same motors charge the batteries. A diesel-only version is also offered.

Ten panels on the roof
Ten solar panels sit flush on the coachroof, with up to 4.5 kW of output. They feed a 22 kWh house battery bank, which goes up to 66 kWh with extra batteries. Greenline says that is enough for 48 hours or more at anchor on silent power, with the air conditioning on.

Start here
Greenline says the first thing to look at on board is how the main deck joins inside and out. Lower the windows beside the galley, open the aft doors all the way, and the saloon and cockpit become one space. The cockpit takes a table for four with seats either side. A drop-down aft platform is an option.

From the yard to the water
The galley runs along the saloon with an electric oven and a two-zone induction hob. Extra fridge and freezer space can be added, and the water tanks hold 400 litres. Greenline sent YachtWay pictures from the build. Tap to see this saloon in the shed.

Two cabins, forward and to port
The owner's cabin is forward. The guest cabin is to port and works as a twin or a double. Greenline offers three layout versions in all.

Twin or double
Here the guest cabin is set up as two singles.

A second head, if you want one
One head is standard with a separate shower. A second head is an option for more privacy for the owner.

Couples, families and the Great Loop
Greenline told YachtWay the 42 is built for couples and families who want comfort, quiet cruising and low running costs. It also sees the boat as a fit for America's Great Loop.
