Gulf Craft Expands Refit Operations with New Ajman Facility
Gulf Craft expands its refit services with a state-of-the-art facility in Ajman, UAE, to cater to the growing demand in the region.
Gulf Craft is significantly enhancing its refit services by launching a state-of-the-art refit centre in Ajman, UAE. This strategic move is in response to the burgeoning demand for refit services as the superyacht community gravitates toward the region. The facility, currently under construction, is projected to be operational by mid-2025.
The new Ajman facility is set to revolutionize regional yachting infrastructure. Accommodating a broader clientele, it will extend refit capabilities beyond Gulf Craft's own fleet to all yachts venturing into the area. Despite the challenges posed by the local climate, with its heat, humidity, and high salinity, Gulf Craft's extensive experience in such conditions equips them to maintain operations year-round efficiently.
Spanning 10,034 square metres, the facility boasts a natural water depth of 8 metres, a 600-tonne Cimolai travel lift for handling sizeable vessels, and an additional 75-tonne lift for smaller yachts. It also features an 80-metre berth for in-water repairs and four 60-metre yacht berths. Specialized workshops onsite will offer comprehensive services, including carpentry, upholstery, painting, and more, all supported by an available spare parts shop. Additionally, vessel registration services will be provided in collaboration with the Dubai Maritime Authority.
This expansion aligns with a global trend where the refit sector is under mounting pressure to accommodate an increasing number of yachts requiring maintenance. The proliferation of new builds across the world magnifies this demand, necessitating advanced facilities like Gulf Craft's to keep pace with industry growth.
The Superyacht industry is witnessing an evolutionary phase where refit facilities are emerging in non-traditional locations, indicative of an industry that is not just adapting but expanding its boundaries significantly. The transformation of refit facilities, such as Gulf Craft’s initiative in Ajman, signifies this broader shift in the industry, emphasizing a commitment to fostering a thriving yachting community with exceptional service offerings.
