Miami International Boat Show Opens With Ribbon Cutting

The 2025 Miami International Boat Show commenced on Wednesday, February 12, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The event featured Governor Ron DeSantis, alongside elected officials, community leaders, and yachting and boating industry executives.
In his address, Governor DeSantis highlighted Florida's deep-rooted connection to boating and fishing, stating, "If you live in Florida, you kind of have to get used to fishing and boating. It is what we do, right?" The governor also announced that Florida set a new tourism record in 2024, welcoming approximately 142.9 million visitors.
The Miami International Boat Show is a significant event for the state's economy, attracting thousands of visitors globally and generating over $1 billion in economic impact. This year's show runs from February 12 through February 16, spanning multiple venues, including the Miami Beach Convention Center, Pride Park, Herald Plaza, Venetian Marina, Museum Park Marina, and Superyacht Miami at IGY Yacht Haven Grande Miami. The event showcases more than 1,000 boats of various sizes and over 1,000 exhibiting brands, solidifying its status as the recreational boating industry's flagship event.
Governor DeSantis used the occasion to propose the "Boater Freedom Initiative," aiming to preserve boaters' rights to choose between electric and gasoline-powered vessels. The initiative seeks to prohibit preemptive sales restrictions based on fuel type and prevent the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission from conducting safety inspections without probable cause.
