Revolutionary Propulsion Systems: Azimut’s Grande Series Integrates Rolls-Royce Engines
Azimut teams with Rolls-Royce, launching efficient, eco-friendly mtu-powered propulsion for Grande yachts, debuting in 2025.

In a groundbreaking development for the yacht industry, the renowned Azimut Benetti Group has entered into a strategic four-year collaboration with Rolls-Royce to innovate the propulsion systems for the celebrated Azimut Grande yacht series. This partnership promises to redefine performance and efficiency in yachts measuring up to 30 meters.
The core of this advancement is the integration of mtu Series 2000 engines, powered by ZF pod drives and coupled with mtu NautIQ ship automation. This state-of-the-art propulsion system boasts a 15% increase in efficiency compared to traditional systems, setting a new benchmark in the industry. Moreover, it aligns with environmental goals by emitting lower carbon emissions and delivering power outputs ranging from 1,015 to 1,472 kilowatts.
The compact design of the propulsion plant facilitates innovative layouts, unlocking unique space configurations across three decks while adhering to Benetti's stringent standards for low emissions and high efficiency. Additionally, prospects for hybrid upgrades enhance its appeal, offering electric operation capabilities suitable for environmentally conscious maneuvering in ports and for precise dynamic positioning.
With a focus on comprehensive services, ongoing discussions are aimed at integrating advanced bridge solutions, further solidifying the collaboration’s impact. The initiative marks a pivotal milestone in the "From Bridge to Propeller" strategy, ushered in during the 2023 Yachting Festival in Cannes.
Industry experts are watching closely as the first shipment of the mtu propulsion package is scheduled for delivery within the year. The eagerly anticipated yachts featuring these cutting-edge systems are expected to make their debut by 2025, heralding a new era in yacht design and functionality. This initiative signifies a substantial expansion of Rolls-Royce's presence in the premium yacht sector, reflecting the industry’s growing interest in integrated technological solutions.
